OUR ARTISTS
Jill Riley
Jill Riley was born into the fourth generation of a large Texas cattle ranching family with the ironic last name of Cluck. In a twelve song story album, she tells their important story spanning four generations. Her great grandparents and their children survived both the Dirty Thirties, and the Great Depression out on the High Plains. Jill grew up observing the fitting debates and resulting divisions among the cattlemen of the second and third generations. Her homespun film featuring the stories and songs of this album won Anthem Film Festival 2020 for Best Original Score. The story shares the lessons Jill has learned through digging into the rich soil of her family heritage, how important family is, and her personal conclusion, "What divides a family divides a nation."
Ronny Dean Garrett
Ronny Dean Garrett grew up in Texas and New Mexico, usually out in the country. His family lived on farms and ranches as day workers and moved often. His dad played guitar and sang, his mother sang harmony and his two older brothers played guitar. Ronny was delegated to drums but quickly found his own voice. Growing up in a musical family fueled Ronny’s inspiration from an early age. He spent hours listening to his grandparent's records - Jimmy Rogers and Southern Gospel, most notably, The Chuckwagon Gang. It was during this time that he knew he wanted to be a singer. From performing acapella at the Church of Christ, playing with his brothers in a trio, and wanting to sing like Creedence Clearwater Revival, he was hooked! Ronny spent over a decade pursuing music in Nashville and now resides in the panhandle of Florida.
Jessica Dipuma
Jessica grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia on a winding road that twisted and dipped through the rolling hills of farmland. That backroad was an accurate depiction of her inner world of insecurities and overthinking as a child. The place she found a deep sense of belonging was with her extended family on her Grandmother’s farm. After pursuing music in Nashville and then New Jersey, Jessica made her way back home to Virginia to live in her grandmother's farmhouse in 2019. She had passed away at 101 and Jessica was afforded the opportunity to take care of the house that had taken care of her family for generations. She spent the pandemic there, writing songs about what she had learned from her grandparents well-lived lives. It was a season of reconnecting with her family roots and blooming in new ways, so Dogwood Tree, the state tree and flower of Virginia was the perfect title for this sentimental project.
Megan Starkey
Megan Starkey is a Nashville, Tennessee native who just recently answered God's calling to share the gospel through her musical gift. As a kid of the 90's, her musical influences ranged from Mariah Carey to Shania Twain, even covering Destiny's Child albums on her karaoke machine. Today, however, she sings songs of hope that are meant to uplift others and help find peace in a noisy world. Whether you need a reflective, heart-felt reminder that Jesus loves you or an upbeat vibe that gets you moving, her music's got you covered.
